Firmware update not running and shows "serverIndex" failure

Jochen DG1SFJ

I own a Morserino which i upgraded successfully to 1.3 some time ago. Now i
wanted to upgrade to 2.0 but without success. Wifi is running fine, i can reach
the website and log in to update. I select the browsebutton and point it to the
v2 bin file. when i press the "Begin" button no Progress Bar change, but website
gots empty and only text left is "Not found : /serverIndex".
I tried Ubuntu and Windows10, Firefox and Edge, i tried 1.4 and 2.0 - also with
2 different wifi routers, tried smartphone and notebook. All gave the same result
with the "ServerIndex" failure. Any hint for me what could be wrong ?

You can order cables with JST connectors on AliExpress or Ebay... It's the easiest  just to use a different battery cable.

Is there a way of getting these to work? I’m not sure what adapter I need. Thanks.

The connector they show for your link looks like the same as on the pair of batteries I purchased earlier this year.  Mine has the correct mating connector.  I think I used longer standoffs so the battery slips between the PCB and the bottom plate.  These come with a simple little USB charger also.

Re: Problem updating from V1.1 to V2.0

Willi,

After seeing your response, I gave the Wifi menu another look. The top item : "Wifi Functions" was highlighted, and this never moved. I did not notice that when rotating the encoder knob, that the other three displayed items were in fact changing - changing from non-bold to bolded. The effect is rather slight, but noticeable. So, I rotated the encoder so that "Update Firmw." was bolded, and pressed the encoder knob. This action allowed me to upload the binary file and the unit is now on version 2.0. Hope this help any others having this problem. I see that in version 2.0 the Wifi menu has been changed to reflect the V2.0 User Manual.

Thanks for your assistance.

The selection (highlight) should move when you rotate the encoder.... Di you notice any encoder problems within the menu or when changing the volume?

Hi,

My Morserino is currently on V1.1. I have downloaded from GitHub version 2.0 (file is 907kb). After pressing red button three times to bring up WiFi menu, I cannot select any of the visible options. The screen display shows :  Wifi Functions:   ,   Wifi Config   ,   File Upload  ,    Update Firmw. , and the top entry "Wifi Functions" is highlighted.  When rotating the black encoder, the highlighted selection does not move. Pressing the black encoder button once changes the display to :  Enter wifi Info  ,   AP: morserino  ,  URL: m32.local  ,   RED to abort.

What sequence is needed to move the highlight bar to another selection on the Wifi display ?

Many Thanks,

I updated mine and was no closer than 15 feet from my wireless router, I suspect something else is going on, maybe co-channel interference, in my house I can pick up 10 local wifi routers, your device maybe getting desensitized by other wifi signals.

73's to all.
I upgraded my M32 this past weekend from V1.3 to V2.0.
I set the wifi from the initial AP mode with no problems, and my Internet ISP Box ssid and password are quite long with case sensitive letters.
M32 recognize it on the first attempt and i get and ip address on the screen.

After i decide to upgrade the firmware and with the morserino at approximately 2 meters (6.6 ft) from the box i experience not connection failure.
Just after that i upload a txt file of about 250 Ko with no worries.
And i have about 10 wifi equipments on the router on both 2.4 and 5ghz band

So to quote the others answers try to put your morserino at the shortest distance from your Wifi router/ISP Box

I believe the WiFi antenna is the tiny copper coil, not the larger black screw on antenna. May explain the limited range.

Apologize for bumping an old thread, but I did just find this on Amazon. Neither "JST" nor "Molex" are specific enough to know what actual connector is being used, but this looks like the right battery for people in the US.

Very strange…. I just updated both of mine and uploaded new txt files and my WiFi is 12 meters away and has 3 walls to go through. Update on both went flawlessly.

two words practice morserino

Tommy Clemmensen

Hej

I've started practicing two words with the morserino now

Have uploaded two words txt with comma so I have to send it all back at the same time and it actually goes quite well, with some of the orders, although some of them are a little too difficult yet.

It actually works quite well with the echo trainer, though there may well be errors since I have no break.I have had the most success at 15 wpm, but have also had a couple of real at 18 wpm, practicing at most 15 wpm, but 18 wpm is a little too difficult yet.

The more I learn the sentences by heart, the easier I can recognize them, the better I can concentrate on sending, and then I get some right within the 5 attempts.

I moved from the Mac to the PC to do the update. (this was my first time), someone else had built the kit for me.
Update to 2.0 firmware worked like a champ.

Practice morserino32

Tommy Clemmensen

Hello

I have set the words at 5 letteres and rufz and random between 9-22 wpm but is at 18 wpm the most of the time.

I got a little of the words correct then I tried two words txt with (comma ,) but it was to difficult

I had a old router so that was the reason I could not get the wifi to work when I change my router it was no problem.

But I got to try to update firmware two times because first time it took all my battery and did not update, but then I connect my pc wire and uploaded the battery at the same time and have the pc usb plugin so I succesfully update the new 2.0 firmware.

I could not see any different in the first manual, but in the v2 there was a lot of new stof.

I have bought two morserino's becouse I sold the first to my cw teacher oz4wil. I have zip the new manuals and firmware to him.

But the only problem I have now is that the wifi eat all my battery, but I just have to learn that my pc have to be connected as I use the wifi.

I kneed a longer wire for they usb but I do not know what the moserino stik is called, I use a old phone usb for my old android phone. Now I have a IPhone and the cable dont connect. But the adroid cable is only 10 inch long it would be easyer if I could get it longer.
